Dr. Cole and Steve Kashul are joined by Dr. Steven Mandrea of Lakeview Dermatology to discuss skincare and sun protection during outdoor exercise. They discuss the role of sunblock and protective clothing as well as possible ways to reverse the signs of skin damage from outdoor exercise.
Steven Mandrea, MD was born in Chicago and grew up in the northern suburb of Highland Park. He graduated from Highland Park High School, then went on to the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where he graduated with honors with a BA in Spanish. Steven then graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine for his MD and did a preliminary year of internal medicine at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. Dr. Mandrea then returned to UIC for his dermatology residency, which he completed in 2006. During his training, Dr. Mandrea did basic science research in inflammatory bowel disease at the Northwestern Department of Gastroenterology and in melanoma at the UIC Department of Dermatology.
Upon graduating from residency and becoming board certified in dermatology, Dr. Mandrea joined his father, Dr. Eugene Mandrea, at Lakeview Dermatology. Having a strong interest in medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology, like his father, Steven quickly helped to grow the location in Lakeview and immediately launched LVD’s third location in Morton Grove.
The practice has continued to thrive over several years and now has four board-certified dermatologists, five certified physician assistants, three cosmetic registered nurses, two estheticians, and one phlebologist. In May, 2019, Dr. Mandrea directed the opening of Lakeview Dermatology’s fourth location – Hyde Park.
