Dr. Dorothy Kozlowski
Professor of Biology and specialist in the study of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) at DePaul University. Her?lab focuses on neural plasticity and the effects of physical rehabilitation on post-TBI brain recovery.

Dr. Elizabeth Pieroth
Neuropsychologist and head injury concussion specialist for Chicago Bears, Blackhawks, White Sox, and?Fire; associate director of the NorthShore University HealthSystem Sports Concussion Program.

ABOUT OUR ORGANIZERS:

Synapse?is the neuroscience student organization at Lake Forest?College. Synapse organizes several coeducational and extracurricular?programs in neuroscience at the College, including the annual Brain?Awareness Week, for which they received national recognition from?the Society for Neuroscience in 2011.

Lake Forest College Athletic Council?is a student-run organization?whose aim is to increase school spirit and athletic support throughout?the College community. They serve as the primary student-athlete?advisory committee to the Department of Athletics.

Dr. Dorothy Kozlowski
Dr. Kozlowski is a professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at?DePaul University and served as the founding chair of the Department?of Health and Sciences. She received her BA in psychology from Knox?College, MA and PhD in psychology from the University of Texas at?Austin, and completed post-doctoral fellowships in neurosurgery at?UCLA and neurobiology at Northwestern University. Her teaching?at DePaul focuses on how the brain tries to repair itself following?traumatic brain injury. Dr. Kozlowski and her students study how to?enhance brain repair through therapeutic approaches.

Dr. Elizabeth Pieroth
pieroth Dr. Pieroth, PsyD, ABPP is a board-certified clinical neuropsychologist?and the associate director of the NorthShore University HealthSystem?Sports Concussion Program. She has been involved in the assessment?of players in the National Hockey League since 1997 and is the head?injury/concussion specialist for the Chicago Bears, Blackhawks,?White Sox, and Fire, and numerous colleges and high schools across?the state of Illinois. Dr. Pieroth is also on the board of directors of?the Brain Injury Association of Illinois and is a member of the USA?Football Heads Up Advisory Committee, the US Soccer Concussion
Task Force, and the Amateur Hockey Association of Illinois?Safety Committee. She has written on concussion management and
