Segment One:

Dr. Jeff Mjaanes discusses?Overuse Injuries in young athletes and overspecialization year around at an early age that can cause lasting injury. Dr. Mjaanes is?Assistant Professor-Departments of Orthopedic Surgery and Pediatrics and Director, Chicago Sports Concussion Clinic at Rush University Medical Center.

Dr. Mjaanes sees young athletes from all sports including many local gymnastics, wrestling, soccer and football clubs. He takes care of athletes at several local high schools, including?Simeon Career Academy, Mount Carmel?and?Oak Park River Forest. He has worked with dancers and performers in local productions, including?Broadway in Chicago?shows such as?Billy Elliot,?Shrek, and others.

Dr. Mjaanes has been one of the team physicians for the?United States Soccer Federation?for eight years. He has traveled abroad with the national teams, including the gold medal winning national women’s team. Currently Dr. Mjaanes serves as part of the medical staff for?USA Rugby?and has been working with the Men’s National Team, the Eagles. Dr. Mjaanes completed a rotation at the?US Olympic Training Center?in Chula Vista, CA and has been credentialed to work with US Olympic and Paralympic athletes.

Segment Two:

Joe Estes,?PT, DPT, CGFI, from Athletico discusses golf fitness,
swing analysis and injury assessment. Joe received a?Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Western University of Health Sciences in California and is?a Level 1 golf fitness instructor Certified through the Titleist Performance Institute.

Joe is a physical therapist at Athletico in Oak Brook, which houses the Golf Performance Center with its?individual and group golf fitness programs. He performs?bio-mechanical evaluations of the golf swing?and has volunteered at multiple golf tournaments for the IPGA, CDGA, and IJGA.
