Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 3, 2026

Sports Medicine Weekly (“we,” “us”) is an educational sports medicine publication operated by Sports Medicine Weekly LLC. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and what choices you have.

Scope of this policy

This policy applies to sportsmedicineweekly.com and its email newsletter only. It does not apply to other websites we link to, including Sports Medicine Insights, the Brian Cole, MD practice site, or websites of contributors and partners referenced in our articles. Each of those sites maintains its own privacy practices, and the policy of the destination site applies to your activity there.

What we collect

Email address. If you subscribe to receive new articles by email, we collect the email address you provide.

Contact form messages. If you use our contact form, we collect the name, email address, and message you submit, and use them only to respond to you.

Basic usage data. Like most websites, we record standard technical information when you visit, such as pages viewed, approximate location derived from your IP address, browser type, and referring website. This is used in aggregate to understand which articles are useful. We do not use it to build individual profiles.

We do not collect health information. This site is not a channel for medical communication. Please do not send us details about your symptoms, medical history, or treatment, including through the contact form.

How we use it

  • To email you new articles, if you subscribed
  • To respond to messages you send us
  • To understand which topics readers find valuable
  • To maintain and improve the publication

We do not sell your information, and we do not rent, trade, or otherwise disclose your email address to third parties for their own marketing.

Service providers

This publication is hosted on WordPress.com, operated by Automattic Inc., which processes subscriber data and contact form submissions (including spam filtering), records site statistics, and delivers our email newsletter on our behalf. Automattic’s handling of that data is governed by its own privacy policy in addition to this one.

We also use Google Analytics, provided by Google LLC and loaded through Google Tag Manager, to measure aggregate site traffic, such as which articles are read and how visitors arrive at the site. Google’s handling of that data is governed by its own privacy policy.

If we add other services in the future, we will update this policy to reflect them.

Contributed and sponsored content

Some articles are contributed by outside writers and organizations and may link to their websites. We do not share your information with contributors or sponsors, and following a link to their sites is governed by their own privacy policies.

Cookies and tracking

We do not use third-party advertising networks or ad personalization, and we do not use cookies to build advertising profiles. Our hosting platform and Google Analytics set cookies and collect limited visitor information, including IP address, to operate the site and measure how it is used. We use this information only in aggregate.

International readers

This publication is operated from the United States, and our service providers store and process data in the United States and other countries. If you access this site from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country. Where we rely on your consent, for example when you subscribe, you may withdraw it at any time by unsubscribing.

Your choices

Unsubscribe at any time. Every newsletter email includes an unsubscribe link, which removes you from future mailings immediately.

You may also ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, using our contact form. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation or the California Consumer Privacy Act. We honor these requests regardless of your location and will not discriminate against you for exercising them.

California residents

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. You may exercise your rights to know, delete, and correct your information through our contact form.

Data retention

We keep your email address for as long as you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe or request deletion, we remove your record. Contact form messages are kept only as long as needed to respond to you.

Children

This publication is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16, or under the minimum age of digital consent where they live, whichever is higher. Some articles discuss youth sports, but they are written for parents, coaches, and clinicians. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Medical disclaimer

The content on this site is educational and general in nature. It does not constitute medical advice, does not create a physician-patient relationship, and is not a substitute for evaluation by a qualified clinician who knows your specific situation. Never disregard professional medical advice or delay seeking it because of something you read here.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify subscribers.
