Michigan State University and Coach Roger Chandler have received a verbal commitment from (Chicago) Mount Carmel High School Senior Jake Tucker as one their first recruits for the class of 2016.?
Jake Tucker garnered national accolades as a multi-year place winner at the USA Wrestling?s Pre-Season Nationals and has also won the Grappler Fall Classic in Michigan. He is a 2-time ?Al Dvorak? placer in Illinois and a ?Cheesehead Invite? place winner in Wisconsin. In addition, Tucker is a 2-time Chicago Catholic League (CCL) champion, 2-time IHSA Regional Champion, an IHSA 3A 5th place medalist as a Sophomore and was listed 2 years in a row for?WrestlingUSA?magazine?s list of the Nation?s BEST Sophomores and Juniors.
An injury-shortened campaign as a Junior hampered Jake?s?efforts but he still posted a 15-1 record.?Jake suffered his ACL tear in practice last?December and underwent intense physical therapy?before and after the surgery. His knee as of today is strong and he is back to constant drilling on the mat. The reconstructive surgery was performed by?Dr. Brian Cole from Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush.
Dr. Cole?is a Professor in the Department of Orthopedics with a conjoint appointment in the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology at Rush University?Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. In 2011, he was appointed as?Chairman of Surgery at Rush Oak Park Hospital. He is the Section Head of the Cartilage Research and Restoration Center at Rush University Medical Center, a multidisciplinary program specializing in the treatment of arthritis in young, active patients. He also serves as the head of the Orthopedic Master?s Program and trains residents and fellows in sports medicine and research. He lectures nationally and internationally, and through his basic science and clinical research has developed several innovative techniques for the treatment of shoulder, elbow and knee conditions. He has?published more than 1,000 articles and has published 8 widely read textbooks in orthopedics.
